From One Second To The Next - A Documentary
A new documentary highlights in a sad and dramatic way that distracted driving can change one's life forever. Directed by Werner Herzog "From One Second to the Next" tells the story of four families who in an instant become tragic victims of drivers distracted by texting and driving.
The U.S. Department of Transportation defines distracted driving as "... any activity that could divert a person's attention away from the primary task of driving. All distractions endanger driver, passenger, and bystander safety." Texting while driving is considered the most dangerous distraction for drivers.
Herzog told the Associated Press that AT&T proposed the documentary, and the company planned to distribute the film to 40,000 high schools as part of a program to deter young drivers from texting and driving.
"What AT&T proposed immediately clicked and connected inside of me," Herzog told the Associated Press. "There's a completely new culture out there. I'm not a participant of texting and driving—or texting at all—but I see there's something going on in civilization which is coming with great vehemence at us.
In one second, entire lives are either wiped out or changed forever."
